The United Nations adopted a resolution which declared "United Nations Decade on Biodiversity" with the aim of promoting the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity for the period 2011-2020 to contribute to achievement for Aichi Targets, by all UN systems. In response to this, Global Launching will be held to achieve Aichi Targets to build international or domestic momentum and support for the developing country.
The Committee for Global Launching of the UNDB was organized with the aim of contributing to lead the coordination of Global Launching for UNBD with the support of the UNU, Ministry of Environment of Japan, Ishikawa Prefecture, City of Kanazawa and other related organizations like local economic organizations.
